It happens in any strategy game where the objective is to eliminate other players. A player gets eliminated early, and then spend the rest of the evening waiting… and waiting.
No more! With Overlord, when a player is eliminated, that player is NOT out of the game. Instead, he now works for the player that eliminated him. The Overlord still claims 2 of the defeated player’s special abilities (General Cards) and 1 of their Action cards, but now the underling continues the game.
The overlord is allowed to make actions with BOTH his troops and the underlings’ troops, while the underling can only take actions with his own troops. Both daimyo’s lands are considered when taking actions, though, so the overlord effectively has twice as many turns every year as other players, to equal his growing power and influence.
There is no limit to how many underlings an Overlord can have, and an underling CANNOT be conquered again by another Daimyo.
